Georgia Routs Liberty 6-2 Behind Five Homers in Auburn Baseball Score
Georgia’s auburn baseball score was a 6-2 win over Liberty on Saturday in Game 4 of the Athens Regional. The Bulldogs hit five home runs and moved into the regional final, one win from the Athens Regional title and a chance to host a Super Regional in Athens.
Georgia Power at the Plate
Kenny Ishikawa and Ryan Wynn both hit solo home runs in the third inning, and Rylan Lujo added another in the sixth. Brennan Hudson homered in the ninth, and Daniel Jackson hit his 29th home run of the season.
That last swing pushed Jackson into second place on Georgia’s single-season home run list behind Charlie Condon’s 37 in 2024. Georgia has now hit 163 home runs this season.
Matt Scott Stops the Slide
Wes Johnson said, “I thought what Matt did today was elite.” The Georgia coach added, “Matt came in the game, things were a little sideways.”
Dylan Vigue allowed one earned run and walked three in 1⅓ innings before Scott took over and settled the game. Scott worked five scoreless innings, walked three and struck out four, and Justin Byrd closed with 2⅔ scoreless innings, one walk and four strikeouts to earn the save.
Johnson also said, “You want guys in the game when you need to stop momentum, like Matt.” Georgia already tied a program record with nine home runs in Friday and Saturday morning’s 18-2 win over Long Island, then followed that power surge by beating Liberty again to stay alive in the double-elimination regional.
Athens Regional Final
Georgia will face the winner of Liberty and Boston College at 5 p.m. Sunday. If the Bulldogs win, they clinch the Athens Regional and advance to an NCAA Tournament Super Regional, which they would host in Athens. If they lose, they would play again Monday.
