M6 closed after lorry overturns near Rugby — Sun News
sun news: The M6 remains closed in both directions after a lorry crashed into the central reservation barrier and overturned shortly before 17:00 BST on Sunday. The closure runs between junction one near Rugby, Warwickshire, and the Catthorpe interchange in Leicestershire.
National Highways said all emergency services, including the air ambulance, were at the scene, while highways officers helped manage traffic. On Monday, it said police investigation and recovery were still ongoing because of the extent of the damage, and the road could not yet be reopened.
Rugby To Catthorpe
The affected stretch sits near the Warwickshire and Leicestershire border. Drivers on the A14 westbound, the M1 northbound and the M6 southbound have diversion routes in place, and officers have been working to turn vehicles around from the rear of the queue.
National Highways told drivers: “If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time,” and added: “Plan ahead and you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
National Highways Advice
That advice leaves motorists with two immediate options: use the diversion routes already in place or postpone the trip. With recovery still underway and the carriageway shut in both directions, the priority for those approaching the area is to follow the traffic management in place and avoid adding to the queue.
