Nebraska Falls 5-1 to Alabama at Ncaa Softball WCWS
No. 3 Alabama beat No. 1 Nebraska 5-1 on Saturday at the ncaa softball Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the result ended the Huskers’ 27-game win streak. Nebraska fell to 52-7 and heads into an elimination game after its first loss since March.
Alabama’s Early Burst
Alabama took control fast with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, then added another run in the bottom of the third. Nebraska never erased that gap, and the Crimson Tide pushed the lead to 5-1 on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth.
Camenzind’s Lone Hit
Hannah Camenzind supplied Nebraska’s only hit of the day with a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth inning. It was Nebraska’s only run, and it came after Alabama had already built a 4-0 cushion. Jordy Frahm took the loss in the circle after allowing three runs on three hits in two innings.
Alexis Jensen handled the final four innings for Nebraska and struck out six while allowing only two hits and two unearned runs. Camenzind’s homer was Nebraska’s lone extra-base damage in a game where the offense produced just one hit against a team that started the day with the country’s top seed in front of it.
Nebraska Faces Texas
The loss matters because Nebraska’s long run finally stopped at 27 straight wins, the longest streak in the country and in program history. That leaves the Huskers in an elimination game against No. 2 seed Texas on May 31 at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC and carried across the Huskers Radio Network or on B107.3 FM.
