Odell Beckham Jr Joins Giants After Monday Workout
odell beckham jr is back with the Giants after attending their wide receiver workout on Monday, and New York later signed him. The move came as the team looked for help at receiver after Gunner Olszewski suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
Beckham’s Monday return
Beckham was one of the players in attendance at the workout, where Anthony Miller and JuJu Smith-Schuster also took part. The Giants had already agreed to a one-year deal with Braxton Berrios, but they still kept working through options before landing Beckham later that day.
The reunion follows an offseason in which Beckham had already worked out for the Giants earlier this year. Over the weekend, he was at Brian Burns’ charity softball game, signing autographs for fans while speaking openly about the possibility of returning to New York.
He told Brandon London that “It's a place I never wanted to leave” and said it was “just a special place in my heart, just to see all of these Big Blue jerseys -- just hoping for the best.”
Beckham’s unfinished business
Beckham also used the weekend conversation to describe the time away from football after a six-game PED ban kept him out in 2025. “I think you just rely on the things you always rely on, which is my faith,” he said. “And, you know, God has a place of special purpose and journey for me, and just being able to spend that time away, just made me realize some things. You know, I left some things unfinished.”
That gives the signing a sharper edge than a simple veteran add. Beckham was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, topped 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons with the Giants, and earned a Pro Bowl nod during that stretch. He has not reached 1,300 yards or been selected to another Pro Bowl since 2016.
His path since then has been uneven. After two more seasons with the Giants, he was traded to Cleveland in 2019, later made his Super Bowl run with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and saw that run end with an ACL tear. In 2024, he played nine games for the Miami Dolphins and caught nine passes for 55 yards.
Giants receiver room shifts
For the Giants, the signing adds a familiar name to a receiver group that had already changed once on Monday with Berrios’ one-year deal. Beckham’s return also reconnects the team with a player who once delivered peak production in New York and then spent years trying to get back to that level.
He had said, “I guess we gonna find out soon,” when asked what he would tell people wondering whether he still had any juice left. Monday answered that part quickly, with New York choosing him after the workout and giving the roster a veteran receiver who already knows the building, the expectations and the jersey.
