Teen Arrested After Three Horse Stabbings at Las Vegas Show

A teenager competing in a Las Vegas horse barrel race was arrested after police said three horses were stabbed multiple times during a weekend competition at South Point. The injuries kept the animals out of the event and sent detectives to the 9700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on Saturday.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said officers were called after reports that a horse had been injured. By the time they arrived, three horses had been stabbed multiple times, and investigators believed the girl, who had access to the barn, used a knife.

South Point Barn Investigation

The incident unfolded during the 2026 National Barrel Horse Assn. Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show at the South Point Casino, where riders and horses were gathered for the weekend-long competition. Barrel racing sends horses around a path with sharp turns marked by barrels, making the barn area and stall access central parts of the event setup.

Police said the horses are expected to survive, but the injuries prevented them from participating further in the competition. The teenager was found by police in a nearby hotel and taken into custody after the attack.

Charges After the Arrest

She was booked on 12 counts of willful or malicious killing, maiming or torturing of an animal and three counts of felony malicious destruction of private property over $5,000. The charges track both the harm to the horses and the damage tied to the attack.

Hailey Krahenbuhl said on Facebook that her horse, Sully, was one of the animals injured. Arielle Phillips said the teen tried to talk to her the night before the attack at the horse’s stall, and she wrote that someone told her the horse was “quivering” and bleeding in the stall. Phillips also wrote, “crazy obsessed stalker who has been following me on social media for a long time.”

Phillips later wrote, “An innocent sweet horse, who only knows how to give me her ALL was brutally tortured for no reason,” while Krahenbuhl said, “I have no words, he is stitched up and in recovery,” about Sully. The case now centers on the arrest, the barn access investigators say the teen had, and the condition of the three horses after a weekend that ended with them out of the show.
