A.J. Brown Says No Bad Blood in Jalen Hurts A.j. Brown Relationship

A.J. Brown said there is no bad blood with Jalen Hurts in his first interview after the trade to the New England Patriots, answering the jalen hurts a.j. brown relationship speculation head-on. He said the two grew apart, but that nothing happened between them.

Brown Opens Up After Patriots Trade

Brown called New England his team since childhood and said he had a Patriots rug in his home for a few years. In the interview, he said, "This is my team. This is my team since I was a kid. … I was doing what I was supposed to be doing as an Eagle, but this is it."

The move closes Brown’s four-season run in Philadelphia, where he arrived in a 2022 trade, made three All-Pro teams and won Super Bowl LIX. That history made his first comments after the Patriots deal more than a routine welcome message, because his name had become attached to questions about what changed with Hurts before the trade.

Hurts And Brown Grew Apart

Brown said the distance between him and Hurts developed over time rather than from one incident. He said, "I didn’t truly understand why our friendship became the center of everyone’s attention when it came to football, because looking back on it, we haven’t been as close as we were [for] a couple years now, but that didn’t stop anything."

He added that they still competed, pushed each other and led the team, then made clear where he stood now: "We still competed, we still pushed each other, we still led the team. It was just kind of strange, people just got so fixated on our relationship and wanted to talk about maybe because the history of this place, but that wasn’t what this was. I’m going to say it to you, I’m going to say it on camera: I have nothing but love for him. I want him to do well and accomplish everything that his heart desires."

Patriots Fit, Eagles Exit

Brown also pushed back on the idea that his public comments had been self-serving in Philadelphia. He said, "I didn’t mind being viewed as whatever picture was painted" and added, "Because I know, like my teammates know, I had their back. … Nothing I ever said was for personal gain. It was always to help this team win and try to be our better self."

He ended the relationship talk with a blunt line that leaves little room for a feud narrative: "Life happens and there is no bad blood. Both parties are ready to move on!" For the Patriots, that means Brown arrives with his own history intact and no fresh dispute hanging over his first days in New England.
