Marathon Game Season 2 Launches June 2 With Open Play Week
Marathon game Season 2 begins on June 2, 2026, and the first week opens the full game on PlayStation 5 without a PlayStation Plus membership. Progress made during Open Play Week carries into Season 2, so the free window is not just a trial run.
June 2 Opens the Reset
Season 2 starts with a full reset for all Marathon players. That gives the launch a clean competitive baseline, which is reinforced by the June 2-9 Open Play Week window for anyone coming in on PlayStation 5.
Open Play Week is the practical hook for new and returning players. The game is available in full on PlayStation 5 for seven days, and whatever is earned during that period stays attached to the account when Season 2 continues.
Night Marsh Changes the Map
Night Marsh adds the season's most visible shift. Multiple areas sit in pitch darkness, exterior wayfinding lights are reduced, and players get attached lights on their Runner shells to keep moving through the space.
Season 2 also adds new loot and threats around that darker layout. Darksight scopes and signal flares join the loadout options, new enemies arrive as the anomaly stirs, and the UESC has increased its presence to fortify the Complex building.
WEAVEworms and New Gear
The Cradle gives Season 2 a second progression track. Players can level up the WEAVEworms that create their cybernetic body with WEAVEworm Energy, then reallocate that Energy at any point by resetting it.
Sentinel enters as a new defensive shell, while the KKV and D54 Battle Pistol broaden the close-range and sidearm options. The reset means every player starts from the same baseline, but the carryover week gives early adopters a head start on learning the new systems before the season settles in.
