Peabo Bryson Stroke Sends Singer Under Medical Care at 75

Peabo Bryson stroke has left the 75-year-old singer under medical care. A representative for Bryson said the family wants privacy while they navigate the moment together, and that the thoughts, prayers and love of friends and fans are welcomed and deeply appreciated.

Bryson at 75

Bryson turned 75 in April, after spending 50 years releasing solo records. He first put out Peabo in 1976, then built a career that crossed pop and R&B lines with a handful of major duet records.

That catalog includes Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You, which Bryson and Roberta Flack took to Number Two in the UK in 1983, and Beauty and the Beast with Celine Dion, which reached Number Nine in both the US and UK. In 1992, A Whole New World with Regina Belle went to Billboard Number One.

Grace and the memoir

The stroke arrives as Bryson was set to release Grace this year, with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis producing the album. He is also set to publish a memoir marking his 50 years in the music business, two projects that now sit against an immediate health concern.

Bryson’s 2019 heart attack ended with a full recovery, but this episode is more guarded because no severity details have been released. For listeners, the practical reading is simple: the catalog remains intact, the new projects are still on the schedule, and the family is asking for space while medical care continues.
