Squamish RCMP recover 2 from Browning Lake
Squamish RCMP said the bodies of two people who fell from a paddleboard on browning lake in Murrin Provincial Park were recovered Tuesday. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team found them after a search that began when police were called to the lake on May 30 at 3 p.m.
Police said the report was that two paddleboarders had gone into the water and did not resurface. The recovery ended the search on the lake near Squamish, B.C., after multiple agencies joined the operation.
Sasha Banks and RCMP teams
Sasha Banks, the operations commander of the Squamish RCMP, said, “We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search and recovery,”
The response included Squamish Search and Rescue, the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services, and RCMP Air One. The involvement of those teams shows how quickly the operation moved beyond a single police call and into a coordinated recovery effort across land, water, air, and emergency medical support.
Murrin Provincial Park search
Browning Lake sits within Murrin Provincial Park near Squamish, and that location shaped the response from the start. The call at 3 p.m. on May 30 triggered a search for two people who were reported missing after entering the water, and the recovery team later found them earlier Tuesday.
For people using the lake and park, the immediate practical result is that the search has ended and the focus has shifted to recovery. The facts released by RCMP identify the location, the time of the initial call, and the agencies that took part, but they do not add any further details about the two paddleboarders.
