Aaron Hill Illinois Principal Resignation Ends Frankfort Role Immediately

Aaron Hill Illinois principal resignation took effect Monday, ending his role at Frankfort Community High School after the Frankfort Community Unit School District No. 168 received his irrevocable letter of resignation. Hill had been on administrative leave since February after district officials were notified of an investigation involving an off-campus incident in Marion, Illinois.

The district received the letter on Monday, and the resignation took effect immediately. Hill was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with aggravated battery, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.

Frankfort Community Unit School District No. 168

School officials previously said the investigation did not involve students or student safety. That left Hill's status tied to the criminal case and the district's handling of his leave, rather than to classroom operations or discipline at Frankfort Community High School.

Hill became principal of the school in 2023 after nearly 20 years at a middle school. He also served as president of the Illinois Principals Association during the 2012-13 school year.

Hill's June 29 hearing

Court records show Hill is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing on June 29. His resignation removes him from the principal's office before that hearing, leaving the criminal case as the next documented step tied to his situation.

For the district, the immediate issue is that Hill is no longer leading the school while the case moves forward. The resignation closes his administrative role at Frankfort Community High School at once, before the hearing date arrives.
