Perez Pushes Italy Fc Talks for Dumfries, Konate Before Vote

Italy fc is following Real Madrid’s push to line up deals for Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate before the club’s June 7 presidential election. Dumfries carries a €20million release clause, and Madrid have already held talks with the Inter Milan right-back.

The timing matters because Florentino Perez is expected to win the vote, and Madrid were planning to conclude the Dumfries move after Sunday’s result if he is declared the winner. Sources briefed on the deal said personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Real Madrid and Dumfries

Dumfries, 30, has become Madrid’s top target at right-back. The club’s profile for that position is a second-choice option available for around €30million, which puts his clause squarely within range.

That plan sits against a tighter roster picture. Dani Carvajal, 34, is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of June, which would leave Trent Alexander-Arnold as Madrid’s only senior recognised right-back if nothing else changes.

Konate Reopens Madrid Options

Konate gives Madrid a separate route to reinforce the back line. The 27-year-old will leave Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30, and Madrid have renewed interest as they seek a centre-back.

That pursuit had cooled before. Madrid told Liverpool late last year that they were no longer interested in signing him, but they had already considered a move for Konate and are now back in the market after David Alaba’s departure and Eder Militao’s fitness issues.

Perez Vote Shapes Timing

The election on June 7 is the hinge point for both deals. Around 100,000 club members are eligible to vote, Perez is 79 years old, and he is facing Enrique Riquelme, a 37-year-old renewable energy entrepreneur.

Jose Mourinho is also part of the same transfer picture. Madrid were already targeting a centre-back before beginning negotiations with him, and Mourinho is aware of the deals being worked on in advance of his arrival. He has asked for a backup right-back, a left-back, a dominant centre-back and a creative midfielder, and delays to appointing him could cost the club €15million.

For Madrid, the immediate task is simple: settle the presidency, then move quickly. Dumfries has the clause, Konate has the free-agent status, and both fit a summer plan built around shoring up the right side and the middle of the defence before June closes the door on easy movement.
