Guillermo Almada queda a $500,000 de América
América has held talks with guillermo almada to make him its next coach, but the move is stalled by a gap of about $500,000 per year. The Uruguayan coach is waiting for a higher offer, and people close to him say the deal will not move unless the club raises its bid.
Almada and América
A person close to Almada put the position bluntly: “O suben la oferta o no se hace”. That leaves América with a clear choice if it wants to close the deal, because the current proposal is still below what he expects.
The difference in the talks could be enough to decide the hiring. If América increases its offer by around $500,000 annually, it could be able to finish the agreement and land the coach it wants for the bench.
Real Oviedo’s short cycle
Almada’s name has moved back into the market after a five-month spell at Real Oviedo. He took charge on December 16, 2025, and the club officially announced his departure on May 24, 2026.
His exit followed relegation to Segunda División after Real Oviedo collected 19 of 66 possible points under his management. Reports close to the team also said his relationship with the players had deteriorated in recent weeks, adding another layer to a brief and difficult cycle.
América’s next move
For América, the talks are paused but not broken off. The club can still finish the hire if it decides to stretch the offer, and the size of the gap suggests the negotiation is down to money rather than a lack of interest.
That puts the pressure on the next proposal. Almada is waiting for it, and the path to the job now runs through a single number: about $500,000 more each year.
