Will Friedle Keeps Hope for Ben Savage After 2023 Ghosting
Will Friedle says ben savage still has not come back into the lives of the former Boy Meets World cast, and he is not backing off. On Wednesday, Friedle said he still wants a reunion with his old co-star, even after years of silence around the cast’s podcast and personal ties.
“I know I’m shouting into the void, but I’m going to keep doing it. I haven’t given up on my friend,” Friedle told People. He added, “I’m hoping that he comes back into our lives at some point, and when he does, we’re going to have a lot to talk about.”
Friedle’s standing offer
Friedle said he still feels the urge to call Savage, which keeps the rift personal rather than merely professional. That matters because the two played Eric and Cory Matthews across the show’s entire seven-season run from 1993 to 2000, a stretch that made their split visible to viewers who later followed the cast into podcasting.
He also described the latest recording session for Pod Meets World in practical terms: “Just today, literally, we were recording an episode this morning of ‘Pod Meets World’ and there came a question that we all wanted to know, that we know if Ben had been on with us, it would have been answered like that and we would have heard a great story.” The podcast has turned Savage’s absence into a recurring gap, not a one-time disappointment.
Fishel on Savage’s new life
Danielle Fishel said she has tried to make peace with where Savage is now, even while feeling the loss of what the cast no longer shares. “I love imagining him in this new chapter of his life as a dad. I know he has had a baby girl,” she said. “He’s now a husband.”
Fishel also said, “We talked a lot about how he looked forward to being a dad someday. So I like imagining this phase of life that he’s in now,” and added, “Not everybody wants to talk about uncomfortable truths.” She said it makes her sad that she cannot be part of other milestones in his life, which leaves the divide shaped as much by absence as by anything said out loud.
From podcast to politics
Friedle, Fishel and Rider Strong launched Pod Meets World in 2022, and Savage was initially reported to co-host before stepping away. In 2023, the three said Savage had ghosted them without reason; Friedle said then, “He disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day,” and “We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity.”
Savage later shifted into politics, running for a seat on the West Hollywood City Council in 2022 and as a Democrat for California’s 30th Congressional District in 2024, both unsuccessfully. Friedle’s latest comments do not signal a repair, but they do keep the door open: for now, the cast is still waiting for Savage to pick up the phone.
