Nine pupils taken to hospital after Jesse Gray Primary School seeds incident
Nine Year 6 pupils were taken to hospital after eating seeds from trees at Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford. East Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the school at 13:26 BST on Wednesday, after a group of children were found to have eaten seeds in the school grounds.
Queen's Medical Centre
The pupils were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre as a precaution and monitored for several hours before being discharged. They returned to school on Thursday, after the incident that brought ambulances, paramedics, the Hazardous Area Response Team and a responder from the air ambulance to the site.
West Bridgford School Grounds
The area where the children had been playing remains cordoned off. A small number of trees will be removed after a professional inspection by the school's ground maintenance team.
Thursday Assembly
The school assembly on Thursday morning reinforced the message of safe play and the dangers of eating berries or seeds from trees and shrubs. The incident left the school with a cordoned area and a planned tree removal after the alert.
