Sherrod Brown Leads 53% to 45% in Ohio Poll — Sherrod Brown Jon Husted Polling
Sherrod Brown leads Jon Husted 53% to 45% in sherrod brown jon husted polling released Wednesday, giving the former Ohio senator an 8-point edge in the Ohio Senate race. The lead is outside the poll's margin of sampling error and comes as voters rated Donald Trump negatively by 15 points in Ohio.
Brown Ahead in Ohio
The survey found Brown at 53% favorable and 44% unfavorable, while Husted was at 41% favorable and 50% unfavorable. Brown also drew 98% support from Democrats, while Husted drew 86% support from Republicans.
The poll showed Brown taking 31% of non-MAGA Republicans and 13% of all Republicans. Only 2% of Democrats picked Husted. Brown's support was strongest among voters under age 35, independents and women.
Trump's Ohio Numbers
Ohio voters viewed Trump at 42% favorable and 57% unfavorable, a net minus 15 rating that followed a plus 6 net positive rating in the November 2024 Ohio Voter Analysis election survey. Trump carried Ohio in 2024 with 55% of the vote and by more than 11 percentage points.
That shift lines up with the race Brown is trying to make against Husted, who holds the Senate seat after being appointed to replace JD Vance when Vance became vice president. In the poll, 46% of Ohioans said they were concerned Husted is too close to Trump, compared with 39% who said Brown is too liberal.
Ohio Voters Still Fluid
The survey also showed 73% of Brown supporters said they were certain of their choice, compared with 69% of Husted supporters. About one in four voters said they may change their mind before voting.
Brown supporters were more likely to say they were voting mainly for Brown than against Husted, 68% to 30%. Husted supporters were less enthusiastic by that measure, with 58% saying they were mainly for Husted and 39% saying they were mainly against Brown.
Republicans still held together for Husted at 86%, but Brown's gains among non-MAGA Republicans and independents give him the edge in a state where the president's standing has weakened since November 2024. The race now turns on whether those crossovers hold.
