Alex G and Mac DeMarco Sets Cancelled at Primavera

Primavera Sound cancelled Alex G’s and Mac DeMarco’s sets on June 4 after adverse weather conditions forced performances on the stage to be temporarily suspended. The opening day at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona was already moving through a wet forecast, and the festival said it would keep fans informed as soon as it had further updates.

At 9:30pm local time, Alex G’s set on the Revolut Stage was cancelled and Mac DeMarco’s set on the Occident Stage was cancelled. Areas of the festival site were also closed amid heavy rain, including the Estrella Damm and Revolut stages.

Primavera Sound opened on June 3 in Barcelona, and June 4 was the opening day covered by the schedule changes. Massive Attack was due on the Estrella Damm stage at 9:55pm, Doja Cat was listed for 11:30pm on the Revolut Stage, and Bad Gyal’s set on Estrella Damm was listed to start at 1:20am.

Heavy Rain and Stage Closures

The weather picture was rough enough that Weather reported a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain showers continuing until 2am local time. That left the festival balancing an opening-night crowd against a site under pressure, with performances already paused before the late-night run of sets could fully play out.

Amazon Music was producing and broadcasting the exclusive livestream of Primavera Sound for the fifth consecutive year, which meant the disruption extended beyond the people on site. For viewers following the festival remotely, the cancelled sets narrowed an already weather-hit opening night and put the next update from organizers at the center of the evening.
