Big30 Granted Pre-Trial Release in Pooh Shiesty Case
pooh shiesty remains in federal custody, but Big30 won pre-trial release on June 4 in the Gucci Mane robbery and kidnapping case. A judge reversed an earlier ruling that had kept him detained without bond, changing his custody status less than five weeks before the July 6 trial date.
June 4 Ruling
The court found that the government had failed to establish that Wright was a flight risk or that the conditions of release imposed by Judge Christoff would not reasonably assure the safety of any person in the community. It denied the government's motion and vacated any stay of the release order.
Big30 had initially been granted a $100,000 bond before he was later kept in custody without bond after being deemed a flight risk. Federal prosecutors argued he should stay locked up until trial, saying a pending lucrative record label deal would give him the means to flee.
Gucci Mane Case
Investigators say nine men kidnapped and robbed Gucci Mane and others at a Dallas recording studio in January, then forced Gucci Mane to sign a contract release form at gunpoint. Big30, Pooh Shiesty and Wright have all pleaded not guilty, and the case carries life in prison if convictions come after trial.
A week before the June 4 ruling, Pooh Shiesty's dad was released on bond, while Pooh Shiesty himself has been denied bond and remains in federal custody. For Big30, the immediate result is simpler: he is out ahead of trial, but still facing a case where the government has already signaled it will press the flight-risk argument hard if the court changes course again.
July 6 Trial
July 6 is the date now controlling the next phase of the case. Big30's release means he reaches that hearing outside custody, while the rest of the proceeding still turns on whether prosecutors can prove the robbery-and-kidnapping allegations tied to the Dallas studio attack.
