Ty Gallop Lifts Brisbane Into Gold Coast Vs Brisbane QClash

Brisbane heads into gold coast vs brisbane on Saturday at People First Stadium on a three-game slide, with the Lions sitting 6-6 at the halfway point. Ty Gallop said the side hoped getting back on the road would lift it after a rough run.

Ty Gallop backs road reset

“Obviously we've had a bit of a rough trot the last couple of weeks,” Gallop said ahead of the QClash. “But I think tomorrow getting us on the road again (will) get us up and about.”

He added: “The boys are up and about and the energy is good amongst the group.” He also called it “a high-stakes game - the only two teams in Queensland” and said, “You know it's going to be on early, so just give it everything you've got.”

Brisbane's slide meets Gold Coast form

The Lions have been dragged into a tighter position by losses to Geelong by 41 points last month, Greater Western Sydney in a 78-point defeat after conceding 14 goals in the third quarter, and Fremantle by 25 points last week. That run has left Brisbane trying to steady a season that had been shaped by stronger results against Gold Coast in recent years.

Brisbane has won 13 of its past 15 games against the Suns and beat them by 53 points in last year's semi-final. The matchup still comes with pressure, because Gold Coast is fifth on the ladder with a 7-4 record and has been one of the league's sharper sides through the opening half of the season.

Injuries and returns

Brisbane's selection picture is also thinner. Hugh McCluggage is set to miss at least four weeks with a calf injury, Keidean Coleman is out with a hamstring injury, and Dayne Zorko remains sidelined with a quad injury. Darragh Joyce returns to the Brisbane side, giving the Lions one experienced option back as they try to end the losing streak.

Gold Coast will bring in Jai Murray for his debut, while Lachie Weller and Will Graham have both been cleared to return, Weller from a hamstring injury and Graham from concussion. That leaves Saturday's QClash as more than a form check for Brisbane: it is a chance to arrest the slide against a fifth-placed opponent before the season's pressure builds again.
