Jeremy Monga Deal Virtually Done as Arsenal Mikel Arteta Summer Transfers Begin

Arsenal mikel arteta summer transfers have started with a move for Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga described as virtually done. The 16-year-old winger is set to become the club's first new summer signing after a season that ended with the Premier League title and a penalty loss to PSG in the Champions League final.

Jeremy Monga to Arsenal

Monga made 30 appearances for Leicester this season, and Arsenal's move for him now looks close to complete. The deal puts an academy-age winger at the front of a summer window that the club expects to use aggressively.

That approach fits the priorities already set by Arsenal chiefs: a world-class striker to provide competition for Viktor Gyokeres and a new left-sided winger to add real pep to the attack. The Monga move does not answer those bigger needs on its own, but it gives Arteta an early addition while those talks continue.

Arsenal attacking priorities

Clinton Morrison said Arsenal need another striker to put pressure on Gyokeres and contend with Kai Havertz. He also said they need another left winger because they might lose a few players like Gabriel Jesus, who wants to go and play regular football.

“I think Arsenal will strengthen again in the summer,” Morrison said. He added, “I think they’ll be the team that everyone’s looking at as capable of dominating for a few years now.”

Piero Hincapie and Arteta

Arsenal have also agreed a summer deal to make Piero Hincapie's move permanent from Bayer Leverkusen. That keeps one part of the squad settled while the club pushes on with the rest of its business.

“They need an out-and-out quality striker. And they do need another left winger because they might lose a few players like Gabriel Jesus, who wants to go and play regular football,” Morrison said. His view matches the club's transfer shape: one young signing close, two major attacking priorities still on the table.
