J.T. Poston Leads Memorial Golf Tournament by One After 65
J.T. Poston leads the memorial golf tournament by one after a seven-under 65 on Friday at Muirfield Village. He is nine under overall, with Saturday's third round set around the last pairing and a crowded chase behind him.
Poston Turns Friday Into Control
Poston handled windy, difficult conditions with six birdies on the front nine and one bogey in the round. He also saved par from the sand on the 18th hole, a finish that kept him alone at the top after 36 holes.
He leads Ryan Gerard by one after Gerard shot 69. Sam Burns sits six under and alone in third, leaving the tournament with a clear top group heading into the weekend.
Gerard Keeps Pressure On
Gerard has been in contention in stretches all season. He won the 2025 Barracuda Championship, finished runner-up in his first two starts of the year at the Sony Open and the American Express, and tied for 10th at last week's Charles Schwab Challenge before moving into the final pairing here.
Poston is chasing his fourth career PGA Tour victory and his first since the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open. Gerard has already shown he can close out a win and has also put himself near the top in the biggest starts of his season, which is why their 1:40 p.m. ET tee time matters more than the usual Saturday pairing.
Muirfield Village Cuts Down Field
The Memorial Tournament is being played at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, and the cut has already trimmed away two notable names. Jordan Spieth and Jason Day missed the weekend, leaving the field to the players still under par and the ones trying to climb fast on Saturday.
Golf Channel will carry the third round from 12:30-2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, before CBS takes over from 2:30-6 p.m. ET. PGA Tour Live on + begins at 9 a.m., and Paramount+ will simulcast the CBS coverage, so viewers looking for Poston and Gerard can track the final groups from the first tee shot through the late finish.
