Miles Robinson Makes 2026 World Cup Roster for United States
Miles Robinson made the United States' 26-player roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving the FC Cincinnati defender his first chance to play on the sport’s biggest stage. The Arlington, Massachusetts native reached the squad after missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar because of a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Robinson’s selection extends a national-team run that began in 2019 and now includes 38 appearances. It also puts an Arlington product on the roster for a tournament the United States will help host across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Robinson’s path from Syracuse to FC Cincinnati
Atlanta United took Robinson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, and he later played collegiately at Syracuse University. He joined FC Cincinnati ahead of the 2024 season and has stayed in the U.S. pool since his debut.
His best international moment came in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup final, when he scored the winning goal against Mexico. That run ended with a title for the United States and a spot on a resume that already separated him from most defenders in the player pool.
May 2022 changed the route
The path to this roster was interrupted in May 2022, when Robinson suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while playing for Atlanta United. The injury removed him from the 2022 World Cup picture just as he had been expected to be a candidate.
That absence turned this selection into a return rather than a debut in the national team’s biggest competition. For Robinson, it is the first World Cup opportunity after years of trying to get back to this point.
United States opens June 12
The United States opens group play against Paraguay on June 12, then also faces Australia and Türkiye. Robinson is now part of that roster, with a World Cup start that finally matches the rest of his international record.
For an Arlington native who has already made 38 appearances for the national team, the roster spot closes one chapter and opens another. The next one begins with group play, and Robinson is in it.
