He kept taking on major fights after that and lost a WBO super flyweight title fight to Junto Nakatani, then a WBC interim super flyweight title event against Pedro Guevara. After that points loss to Guevara, Moloney retired.

Jesse Rodriguez Awaits

Moloney’s comeback now points toward Jesse Rodriguez, the unbeaten American identified as his next target for undisputed status. For a fighter who said, “I have given everything in this sport for 20 years,” the title win in Tokoname changes the path from chasing one belt to chasing more.

He made that clear after the final bell. “There was no way I could leave this ring without winning this world title.”
