Geary County deputies found missing 4-year-old, later pronounced dead
Geary County deputies found a missing 4-year-old boy on Saturday afternoon after a search that began Friday night, and he was later pronounced dead. The child, who was nonverbal and had autism, had been reported missing in Geary County on Friday, June 5, 2026.
The sheriff’s office said searchers included numerous law enforcement agencies, first responders and community volunteers. Deputies responded Friday to a report of a missing juvenile, and the office issued an alert before 10 p.m. Friday saying the child was missing.

After 1 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office said the boy had been located but would not comment on his condition. It later said the child was pronounced dead.
