Sergio Perez Monaco Gp Penalty Drops Cadillac Out of First F1 Point

Sergio Perez Monaco Gp Penalty turned Cadillac’s first Formula 1 point into a 15th-place finish at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. Perez had crossed the line in P10, but a 10-second time penalty for being out of position at the restart pushed him back five places.

Perez slips after restart call

The stewards said Perez’s front right wheel was outside the starting box at the race restart. That added to an already difficult afternoon for the Cadillac driver, who had earlier received a drive-through penalty for being out of position at the start after pulling into P16 rather than P18.

He was also reprimanded for making a practice start in the wrong position during his reconnaissance lap to the grid earlier on. By the end of the 78-lap race, the early promise of a P10 finish had disappeared, and Cadillac’s first apparent point in Formula 1 went with it.

Monaco stewards hand out penalties

The Monaco race became a long afternoon for the stewards. George Russell received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, then picked up a drive-through penalty for failing to serve it correctly and finished P12. Nico Hulkenberg took a 10-second penalty after causing a collision with Carlos Sainz at the hairpin.

Pierre Gasly crossed the line in P3 for Alpine before two separate five-second pit lane speeding penalties dropped him to P7, and Alpine requested a Right of Review from the FIA after those calls. Lewis Hamilton received a five-second pit lane speeding penalty, but kept P2 after an investigation into an alleged Safety Car infringement ended with no further action.

Franco Colapinto also served a five-second pit lane speeding penalty. He was investigated for an alleged collision with Sainz, but no further action was taken. The 2026 Monaco Grand Prix left Perez with the harshest swing of the day: a point on the road, then no points at all once the penalty was applied.
