Rob Sand selects Dave Muhlbauer as lieutenant governor candidate
Rob Sand selected dave muhlbauer, a Crawford County supervisor and fifth-generation farmer from western Iowa, as his candidate for lieutenant governor. Muhlbauer is Sand’s choice for the Democratic ticket in Iowa’s governor’s race.
Sand said, “A fifth-generation family farmer and cattleman from Crawford County, Dave Muhlbauer represents the best of our state: hard-working, honest, and always willing to help out. I’m proud to have him on Team Sand.”
Crawford County Board
Muhlbauer is serving his second term on the Crawford County Board of Supervisors while continuing to work on his family farm. He is a lifelong Iowan from Manilla, a community of less than 800 people, and he lives in western Iowa with his wife, Linda, and their three children.
Sand also said, “Dave has a track record of working with everyone to deliver for western Iowa and knows it’s time to rotate the crops in state government. He’ll be a great partner on the trail and an even better lieutenant governor for the people of Iowa.”
Team Sand
Muhlbauer’s family ties run through local and state government. His father and grandfather both served as county supervisors and state legislators, and Muhlbauer said the campaign is about public service, not politics.
He said, “When there’s work on the farm to be done or your neighbor needs help bailing hay, you don’t ask who they voted for. You put on your boots and lend a hand. Rob understands that, and that’s why I’m proud to be part of Team Sand.” Muhlbauer also said, “I am honored to be Rob’s partner in this race, and I cannot wait to meet voters all across our state to talk about making Iowa not redder or bluer, but better and truer.”
The selection gives Sand a running mate with local government experience, a farming background, and a family history in public service as the campaign builds its ticket. For voters in western Iowa and beyond, the choice puts those credentials at the center of the race Sand is now running.
