Zohran Mamdani Adds Bryant Park Knicks Watch Party for Game 3

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani added Bryant Park to the bryant park knicks watch party lineup on Monday for Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Tickets are required for the 5,000-capacity event, and registration opens at noon Monday.

The move gives fans another official outdoor option after permits were denied for the traditional watch party on the Madison Square Garden plaza. There will be no outdoor gathering immediately surrounding the arena for Game 3, even as the Knicks return home with a 2–0 lead.

Mamdani said the city was adding the site because the watch parties have become bigger than a single plaza crowd. “These watch parties have become a celebration of New York City itself,” he said in a statement announcing Bryant Park as an additional watch party location.

He added: “From every borough and every neighborhood, this city has come together to cheer on the Knicks and share in a moment that belongs to all of us. That’s why we’re adding Bryant Park as an additional watch party location, so even more fans can be part of this incredible Knicks Finals run.”

The city is directing fans to three official outdoor watch locations for Monday night’s game, while the Knicks have also listed official playoff bar takeover locations for fans who want full sound. Bryant Park becomes the most visible new option in that set, and it comes with a hard cap: 5,000 tickets.

Madison Square Garden security

The change lands after Friday’s Game 2 watch party outside Madison Square Garden produced over a dozen arrests. Security around the arena is also tighter for Game 3, with TSA-style screenings and a strict no-bag policy for ticketholders inside the building tied to President Donald Trump’s expected attendance.

Outdoor Madison Square Garden watch parties are expected to resume for Game 4, but Monday’s setup shifts the fan experience away from the plaza and toward the city’s newly designated viewing sites. For fans trying to get in, the practical step is simple: register at noon Monday or look to one of the other official outdoor spots or the bar takeovers already set for the game.
