Angela Lonsdale appears in Emmerdale as Charity reports assault

Angela Lonsdale appeared in Emmerdale on June 8, 2025, playing the female police officer who took Charity Dingle’s statement after an assault. The angela lonsdale casting linked a familiar former Coronation Street face to one of Emmerdale’s darkest current scenes.

Charity reported the assault in the follow-up episode after Dr Caitlin Todd had attacked her on June 7, 2025. Before that scene, Todd had been blackmailing Charity after discovering that baby Leyla was actually Charity’s biological child, giving the episode a sharper edge than a standard police-report sequence.

Corrie Fans Spotted Lonsdale

Lonsdale was known to Coronation Street viewers for playing Emma Taylor from 2000 to 2003, opposite Curly. The character married Curly on Christmas Eve 2000, gave birth to son Ben on Boxing Day 2001, and later moved away after the pair put number 7 Coronation Street on the market in 2003.

By 2010, Curly revealed in the spin-off DVD movie A Knight’s Tale that the marriage had ended, and Lonsdale had already moved through roles in The Bill, Doctors, Wolfblood and Our Girl. That CV made her quick appearance in Emmerdale easy for viewers to place, especially once social media reaction started naming Emma Watts rather than waiting for the credits.

Chas Dingle Keeps the Secret

Chas Dingle was the only person who knew Charity’s secret before the assault storyline spilled into the police station, which is why Lonsdale’s brief role landed in a tightly controlled scene rather than a broad crossover stunt. The casting worked because it put a recognisable soap name into a support role that needed authority, not spectacle.

“Angela Londsdale, who appears as DS Reid in tonight's #emmerdale, was also in #corrie as Emma Watts - appearing in over 200 eps. Nice to see her on screen playing a supportive role on Emmerdale, in such a very powerful and harrowing storyline.” The post captured the audience reaction in plain terms: viewers noticed the former Corrie presence immediately, but the story stayed where it belonged, on Charity’s police report and the fallout from the assault scene.
