Riley County reports five structures damaged in Tornado Lawrence Ks

Riley County Emergency Dispatch received reports of a possible tornado shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, east of the City of Riley, and initial reports showed damage to five structures, tornado lawrence ks. Outdoor warning sirens sounded in the affected areas as volunteer firefighters checked the scene for tree damage, debris and flooding.

City of Riley damage

Four of the damaged structures were on the east side of the City of Riley, and one was near Randolph. No injuries had been reported at the time, leaving damage to property and blocked roads as the main immediate impact for nearby residents and drivers.

Heavy rain caused substantial flooding across Riley County, and several roadways were closed because of high water and debris. That left cleanup and access issues alongside the structure damage, with responders dealing with both wind and water effects in the same area.
