Scotrail adds extra late-night Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh train

scotrail will run an extra late-night train from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley after Take That’s Hampden concerts on June 12 and June 13. The service is part of plans for the band’s Circus Live shows at Barclays Hampden, which are sell-out events.

Phil Campbell on Mount Florida

Phil Campbell, ScotRail’s customer operations director, said the extra services are meant to help fans travel to and from the concerts. He said: “Mount Florida station is only a short walk from the stadium, making travel by train one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get to the concerts.”

He also said: “We’ll be adding more seats and extra services, including extra late-night trains, to help customers travel to and from the event.” ScotRail is also planning increased rail capacity between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida.

Glasgow Central and Mount Florida

ScotRail warned that services through Mount Florida will be busier than usual on concert nights. It said additional staff will be deployed to support crowd management and help people board safely across the network.

The company said passengers must have valid tickets before boarding. Campbell added: “They’re sell-out shows, so we’re asking fans to plan ahead, allow extra time for travel, and buy their return tickets in advance.”

Take That at Barclays Hampden

The extra late-night train is aimed at fans leaving Barclays Hampden after the Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 shows. For passengers using the stadium area, the practical change is straightforward: more rail space on the night, extra staff on hand, and a return journey option from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley.

For anyone heading to the concerts by train, ScotRail’s advice is to buy the return ticket early and allow more time than usual around the Mount Florida area. The busiest part of the journey is likely to be the walk and rail flow around the stadium, not the concert itself.
