Stellantis Issues Jeep Recall for 1,076,999 Wranglers, Gladiators

Stellantis has issued a jeep recall for an estimated 1,076,999 model-year 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles in the United States over an electrical issue that could spark a fire. Frank Matyok, a Stellantis spokesperson, said the defect can cause nearby combustible materials to overheat and potentially ignite.

Owners are being told to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until a remedy is available. Stellantis expects a repair by July, and affected customers will be notified by first class mail when they can schedule service.

Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator

The recall covers Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles with wiring for the electric hydraulic power steering pump. Stellantis said repairs may include inspection and replacement of the wiring harness and electric hydraulic power steering pump.

Matyok said, "In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire," and added that FCA US is advising owners to park affected vehicles away from structures and other vehicles "out of an abundance of caution."

Stellantis July remedy

Stellantis had not finalized a repair as of the article, but it expected a remedy to be available by July. Matyok said, "Affected customers will be notified by first class mail when they can schedule service. FCA US is working diligently to accelerate remedy availability and anticipates a solution no later than July".

The recall extends beyond the United States to an estimated 106,258 vehicles in Canada, 23,704 in Mexico and 124,297 in markets outside North America.

Park away from buildings

For owners, the immediate step is simple: keep the vehicle outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until the repair becomes available. The practical hold here is the repair itself, since Stellantis has linked the safety instruction to the unfinished remedy and said mail notices will come only when service can be scheduled.
