Richard Olise Set to Leave Chelsea After 58 Youth Appearances
richard olise will leave Chelsea at the end of June after making 58 appearances for the club's Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-21s. He is one of four academy players set to depart Stamford Bridge as Chelsea reshapes its homegrown group.
Chelsea and Richard Olise
Olise's exit comes alongside Sam Rak-Sakyi, Jimi Tauriainen and Brodi Hughes. Chelsea said the four academy players will move on at the end of June, with Olise departing after a run that never reached the first team but still produced 58 youth outings across three age groups.
He is also the brother of Bayern Munich star Michael Olise. That family link will draw attention to the move, but the club's decision is built on academy turnover rather than one player alone.
Rak-Sakyi and Tauriainen
Rak-Sakyi's path was more active in the wider squad. He played 86 minutes in Chelsea's 3-1 victory over FC Astana in the Conference League in December 2024, added three substitute appearances in 2024-25 and then made 12 appearances for the Under-21s in 2025-26.
Tauriainen's senior involvement was brief but not empty. He made an 89th-minute substitute appearance against Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round and another 89th-minute substitute appearance in a 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur in May, before leaving on a free transfer.
Brodi Hughes at AFC Wimbledon
Hughes leaves after his only two outings in 2025-26 came for AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy. Chelsea's decision folds him into the same end-of-June exit list, making this a wider release of academy players rather than a one-off cut.
For Chelsea, the move clears space in the academy group and closes out the month with four departures at once. For Olise, the next chapter starts away from Stamford Bridge after 58 appearances in the club's youth ranks.
