Alex Cooper Red Carpet Pregnant Rumors Shift to Matt Kaplan
Alex Cooper said alex cooper red carpet pregnant speculation took over after a New York City appearance she used to hide her baby bump, not her marriage. On Wednesday, June 10, she said people came away thinking she and Matt Kaplan looked miserable while she was trying to keep the pregnancy private.
June 10 Podcast Remarks
“The only rumors that actually came from the carpet were just how miserable my husband and I looked,” Cooper said on her Wednesday, June 10, episode of Call Her Daddy. She added, “To see people overanalyzing Matt and me as we were earnestly trying to hide this pregnancy, I was so relieved that they were talking about our dynamic, our supposed marital issues, and no one was talking about a potential bump. It was a win for the Cooper-Kaplans that day.”
Cooper, 31, also said, “It is crazy to see the internet be like, ‘Oh my God, they’re on the rocks.’ And we’re like, “Wait, wait. We are? What’s happening?’ I think that is an odd part of the job that I don’t enjoy.” She drew a hard line on the relationship talk with, “No one needs to worry,” and “Matt and I are great.”
May 13 Brandcast Appearance
The appearance happened on May 13 at the YouTube Brandcast event, where Cooper said her outfit was too small and she was having a mental breakdown while taking photos. She recalled, “I’m so emotional. I’m so hormonal, and I was not prepared for the energy of a red carpet,” and said, “The last thing that I wanted was for me to get on this carpet and for those buttons that couldn’t stay secure for the life of them to just boom — hit them with the belly.”
That version of events cuts against the online read that her marriage was the story. Cooper said no one in her life, including close friends and family, was worrying about marital issues, and she said the only thing she wanted from the carpet was to keep attention away from the pregnancy. Instead, the public response turned the outing into a relationship check-in.
May 17 Pregnancy Reveal
Cooper announced her pregnancy on Instagram on May 17, writing, “Daddy Gang, there is something I’ve been waiting to share with you,” and, “Honestly happy I can finally stop trying to hide the bump lol.” She said she wanted to keep the baby bump hidden until at least August or September of this year, but the effort was becoming harder as the bump got bigger under her clothes.
Cooper said, “I really just wanted to stay in this bubble and not, I don’t know, not open it up for public commentary for honestly as long as I could,” and added, “Obviously, that plan didn’t work as expected.” She summed up the decision this way: “Plain and simple,” and, “The process of trying to hide it was literally causing me more anxiety than just putting it out there and being honest with the world.”
