Tarris Reed Jr. Emerges as Spurs Team Trade-Up Target at No. 32

The spurs team has a possible first-round route for Tarris Reed Jr., with a trade up from No. 32 into the 2026 NBA Draft first round now in the mix. That matters because Memphis holds No. 3, No. 16 and No. 32, giving it room to move without touching the top pick.

Tarris Reed Jr. and No. 32

Reed has been described as a great surprise trade-up target worth keeping an eye on, and his draft range has started to tighten. He has shown up in some mocks in the early second round, but he is also looking more likely to land late in the first round.

FanSided’s 2026 NBA Draft Big Board lists him as the 25th best prospect in the class. That slot leaves the Grizzlies with a clear opening if they want to push back into the first round and secure him before another team does.

Zach Kleiman’s Draft Pattern

Zach Kleiman has an extensive track record of trading draft picks every year, and that history makes both No. 16 and No. 32 real chips. Grizzlies fans should not worry about No. 3 being moved, but the other two picks could be used in different trade-up scenarios.

A move from No. 16 appears more likely than a jump from No. 32, yet the lower pick remains part of the plan because it can be bundled to get back into the first round. Memphis also needs frontcourt depth, so a big man like Reed fits the roster need the team is trying to address.

Santi Aldama at 30

The last time Memphis climbed for a player, it did it in the 2021 NBA Draft for Santi Aldama. The Grizzlies paid pick No. 40 and two future second-round picks to get back into the first round and take him 30th overall.

That deal gives the current draft picture a direct precedent. If Memphis decides Reed is the target, No. 32 is the cleanest path back into the first round, and the price could again come from the picks the Grizzlies already control.
