Brandel Chamblee Says Bryson DeChambeau Is Eyeing PGA Tour Return

Brandel Chamblee says Bryson DeChambeau is trying to find a way back to the PGA Tour. The comment came Wednesday, as LIV Golf’s future has been thrown into flux and DeChambeau heads to Shinnecock next week for the U.S. Open.

Chamblee On DeChambeau

“The distraction of LIV being in flux, and Bryson – from what we can all sort of read between the lines is that – he’s trying to figure out a way to come back to the PGA Tour, at least that’s what we’re hearing through the grapevine,” Chamblee said. “So, just being in flux, I think it’s hurt a lot of players’ games.”

He added, “Before people went to LIV, when they were considering going to LIV, we saw a number of games just inexplicably fall off.” Chamblee also said, “And maybe that is the large point of what’s going on with Bryson this year, is that he’s completely in a state of flux.”

DeChambeau's 2022 Move

DeChambeau joined LIV Golf in 2022 and has won two tournaments on the tour. He also nearly won again in South Korea last week, a run that sits beside a spring in which he missed the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship.

That mix leaves his major season in a sharper frame than his LIV results do. He is a two-time U.S. Open winner, and he will be back in the biggest spotlight next week at Shinnecock, where the U.S. Open offers the clearest chance to reset the conversation around him.

LIV's Next Turn

Chamblee said, “He put so much into LIV, and now it’s up in flames.” He also said, “So there’s a lot of doubt as to where he’s going to be next year.”

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is officially pulling its funding after this season, and LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil would not confirm whether the final four events of the LIV Golf 2026 calendar will be played. For DeChambeau, that leaves his future tied to a tour that is still being sorted out while one of its best-known players is being linked to another path.
