mi5, the Secret Intelligence Service and Government Communications Headquarters have vacancies across communications, finance and tech, including roles in Greater Manchester. The openings run from a full-time MI5 finance post paying £56,962 to cyber jobs with deadlines on Wednesday, 24 June, and they point to continued recruitment across the UK’s Intelligence Services.

MI5 finance role in Manchester

MI5 currently employs more than 5,000 people, and one of its live openings sits in the Finance, Audit and Procurement team. The full-time post pays £56,962 and closes at 11pm on Monday, 6 July.

MI5 says it works with SIS and GCHQ to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from threats at home, overseas and online, including cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism and organised crime. That places a routine job search inside a service that is usually seen only through its security work.

GCHQ technology and cyber roles

GCHQ has one full-time role in Technology, Engineering & Research with no closing date. The salary for that post is listed at £50,354 to £60,036.

Two other live openings are in cyber teams. Both close at midnight on Wednesday, 24 June. One starts at £55,758, while the other pays £45,841. The dates make the application window tight for candidates who want a role in a field that sits close to the centre of the government’s security work.

SIS recruitment across the services

SIS, also known as MI6, is part of the same intelligence-services umbrella as MI5 and GCHQ. Available data from 2021-2022 puts SIS staffing at approximately 3,644 to 3,673 personnel, showing the scale of the service alongside the current vacancies.

For applicants, the immediate next step is simple: the cyber roles close first, then the MI5 finance post on 6 July. The GCHQ technology post stays open for now, which leaves a wider window for anyone with experience in engineering, research, finance or cyber to apply.
