Greg Davies Says Kumail Nanjiani Got No Special Treatment on Taskmaster Season 21
Greg Davies says Kumail Nanjiani got no special treatment on taskmaster season 21. The host said there were no airs and graces when the actor arrived, and Alex Horne added that the show has no Hollywood treatment.
Davies On Nanjiani
“The wonderful thing about Kumail is that, as soon as he arrived, there were no airs and graces or expectations that he be treated any differently,” Davies said about Nanjiani’s appearance on Taskmaster. He added, “He’s a fan of the show so he just mucked in and joined in with the show in a very full-throated manner.”
Davies also framed the format as self-contained: “This show that Alex created is a leveler, it’s a universe within itself.” That is the point that keeps a high-profile guest from changing the show’s rhythm, and it explains why season 21 could put a Hollywood actor into the same rule set as everyone else.
Horne’s Bungalow
Horne said the show’s three-bedroom bungalow in Chiswick stays deliberately basic. “small and slightly dirty; they’ve got a tiny little green room, there’s no trailer, no Hollywood treatment,” he said, before adding, “But he did not care in the slightest.”
He also said, “I was pretty nervous showing him around, but he just wanted to do the things [tasks].” That lines up with Davies’ description of Nanjiani as someone who embraced the setup instead of negotiating around it.
Season 21 Access
Season 21 is available in full on the official YouTube channel for viewers outside the United Kingdom, while viewers in the United Kingdom can watch it on Channel 4. That gives the season a wider afterlife than a normal UK-only run, which is useful for anyone trying to catch up before the next wave of contestants arrives.
Jason Mantzoukas appeared on Taskmaster in season 19, and Nanjiani’s turn in season 21 shows the series still can pull in American names without changing the mechanics that make the show work. If anything, the hosts’ comments make the pitch clearer: the guest may be famous, but the tasks do not bend.
