Franco Colapinto Takes 13th for F1 Barcelona After 1:16.191 Lap

Franco Colapinto will start 13th in f1 barcelona after qualifying with a 1:16.191 lap. The Alpine driver beat Pierre Gasly and left himself within reach of the points positions for Sunday’s 56-lap race at 10:00.

Colapinto Edges Gasly

Colapinto put together the cleaner lap when it counted, finishing 13th and 0.070 seconds ahead of Gasly, who settled for 14th with a 1:16.261. The gap was small, but it kept Colapinto in the better grid spot and gave Alpine one car slightly farther up the order.

His pace improved from Q1, where he posted 1:17.376, while Gasly ran 1:17.626. Alpine had already made it through practice problems with both drivers reaching Q2 comfortably, and Colapinto said after qualifying: "Largando trece hay oportunidades y creo que no estamos tan lejos de los puntos. Esperemos hacer una buena carrera. Ojalá tengamos menos degradación que en la qualy, que en una vuelta nos quedamos sin gomas. En general, un día muy difícil con un auto incómodo de manejar".

Russell Leads The Grid

George Russell took pole position with a 1:14.679 lap, 0.064 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton in the Ferrari. Andrea Kimi Antonelli will start third, while Charles Leclerc’s Q3 ended after a crash in turn four that brought out a red flag.

Colapinto’s 13th-place slot keeps him just outside the top-10 starting places, but his margin over Gasly and his own comment about tire degradation point to a race that will hinge on whether he can keep the Alpine stable over a full stint. He enters Sunday with a clear target and a cleaner starting position than his teammate.

Barcelona Race Day

The Barcelona Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday at 10:00 and will run 56 laps. Colapinto already has the more favorable grid spot inside Alpine, and the first lap will decide whether that edge turns into a points challenge or another fight from the middle of the field.
