Uğurcan çakır Joins Galatasaray on 1 September 2025

Uğurcan çakır moved to Galatasaray on 1 September 2025 and signed a contract through 2030. The goalkeeper left Trabzonspor after a 2014-2025 spell that included the captaincy and the 2021-2022 Süper Lig title.

Galatasaray Adds Uğurcan Çakır

That transfer put a Turkey national team goalkeeper into Galatasaray’s squad on a deal that runs for five years. It also marked a sharp change for a player who had been tied to Trabzonspor from his early career to the end of the 2025 season.

Uğurcan Çakır was born on 5 April 1996 in Antalya and is originally from Trabzon. He began at Çekmeköyspor and Yamanspor, played for 1461 Trabzon, and then spent 2014 to 2025 at Trabzonspor, where he wore the captain’s armband.

Trabzonspor Roots

His farewell statement made the break clear. “Trabzonspor benim için bir takım değil, hayatımın en büyük gururu. Bu arma kalbimde daima özel bir yerde olacak,” he said, a line that reflects how closely his identity has been linked to the club even as he now wears Galatasaray colors.

There is also a competitive edge to the move. The transfer was described as one of the highest fees in Turkish football history, and that scale fits the profile of a 1.91-meter goalkeeper who had already collected 1 Süper Lig, 1 Türkiye Kupası, and 2 Süper Kupa titles.

What Changes Now

For Galatasaray, the immediate change is simple: it has added a 30-year-old keeper with title experience and a national-team role. For Çakır, the next step is settling into a new side after nearly a decade with Trabzonspor and a career that also includes marriage to Kübra Çakır in 2019 and two children at home.

The move also closes one long chapter and opens another without changing the basic expectation around him. He remains a goalkeeper with Turkey duty on his record, but from 1 September 2025 onward, his club duty belongs to Galatasaray through 2030.
