Dan Butler Returns for Round 14 as St Kilda Vs Gws Giants Looms
St Kilda vs Gws Giants now has one clear selection move. Dan Butler is back for Round 14 after a hamstring injury, and the Saints have finalised their side for Sunday at Marvel Stadium.
Dan Butler back for Round 14
St Kilda made one change to the team that will face GWS at 3:15pm AEST, and Butler is the player coming in. The veteran small forward missed time after hurting his hamstring against the Blues in Round 8.
He has already shown he is ready to handle a bigger role again. Butler returned through the St Kilda VFL side and produced 23 disposals in the win over the Swans, then kicked the game-sealing goal.
Phillipou moves to emergency
Mattaes Phillipou is the player to make way. He was omitted and will be listed as an emergency alongside Hugh Boxshall and Alex Dodson.
That leaves St Kilda with a tighter match-day call, while Butler’s return adds another option as the Saints look to bounce back and claim their sixth win of the year. The selection also comes with Campbell Lake set for his AFL debut less than two weeks after joining the Saints list, and Jesse Tawhiao-Wardlaw has already signed a one-year extension to stay at the club until the end of 2027.
The Sunday fixture gives St Kilda a direct chance to reset against GWS in front of its home crowd at Marvel Stadium. With Butler back after the Round 8 hamstring setback and Phillipou pushed to the emergency list, the Saints have gone with the change they believe best fits the match.
