Beach Denies Guler as Turkey Australia Stays Tight
Josh Beach denied Arda Guler in the 57th minute as turkey australia stayed level in a World Cup 2026 live match, with Turkey piling on second-half pressure and Australia holding firm in their own third. The save came after a turnover and a foul 25m from goal, and it kept the match from tilting Turkey’s way.
Beach Meets Guler
Guler’s left-footed free kick was the sharpest chance of that spell. Beach got across to parry it away, then watched as Kokcu hooked the follow-up high and wide after Turkey kept the corner alive.
That sequence came after Australia had already spent several minutes under strain. In the 54th minute, Souttar won a corner with a free header from about 14 yards out, and Toure almost got a toe on the ball to divert it past Cakir at the other end.
Turkey Presses Forward
The pressure kept coming through Yildiz, who looked much more dangerous on the left than Yilmaz in the 50th minute. By the 60th minute, Italiano had to get a toe in to break up Yildiz’s one-on-one run into the box, and three minutes later the Turkey attacker tried to force his way through from outside the box.
Australia’s problems began earlier in the half. In the 49th minute, they were on a poor corner after which Italiano was involved, and in the 52nd minute O’Neill broke up play in midfield but had nobody to pass to. Irankunda’s turnover from the back then led to Okon-Engstler hauling down Guler 25m from goal.
Australia Under Siege
Turkey’s initial second-half impetus had briefly faded by the 55th minute, but the advantage did not last long. Beach’s stop in the 57th minute was followed by another Australia intervention in the 64th, when the side was trapped in its defensive third and Okon-Engstler got a toe in just as Calhanoglu shaped to shoot in the D.
Australia added a change in the 61st minute when Nishan Velupilay replaced Nestory Irankuna, while Turkey made a switch a minute later, bringing on Akgun for Kokcu. Even then, Yildiz still found two more efforts from outside the box charged down in the 65th minute, and the match remained locked by the time that latest wave of pressure was repelled.
