Jet2 Declares Alicante To Glasgow Flight Emergency After Medical Issue

Jet2 declared an Alicante to Glasgow flight emergency on June 13 after a medical issue on board forced the Boeing 737-8 to request a priority landing. The flight left Alicante, Spain, around 1:40pm local time and landed safely at Glasgow Airport shortly after 3:40pm.

The aircraft began the general emergency procedure about two and a half hours into the trip and squawked 7700 while flying at around 23,000ft over the Irish Sea near Stranraer. Jet2 said: "Our crew followed procedure and requested a priority landing due to a medical emergency."

FlightRadar24 data showed the plane kept going north over Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire before reaching Glasgow. The route placed the emergency response over open water and then over southwest Scotland before the landing at Glasgow Airport.

The flight arrived safely after its scheduled arrival time of 3:40pm. The UK CAA has been approached for comment.
