George Russell Tops Q3 in Barcelona, F1 Barcelona 2026 Results

George Russell took pole in f1 barcelona 2026 results with a 1m 14.679s lap at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Charles Leclerc’s crash in Q3 left Ferrari without a representative lap at the sharp end and pushed him to P10 on the grid.

Russell Sets the Pace

Russell beat Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Antonelli to the top spot and collected his third pole position of the season. His lap arrived after he had also topped the timesheets in FP1 and FP3, turning practice speed into the result that mattered in qualifying.

The Mercedes driver handled low grip levels and tyre degradation in warm temperatures better than the field around him. Hamilton finished second, Antonelli took third, and Russell kept the margin clean enough to leave no opening on the final runs.

Leclerc Loses Q3 Run

Leclerc crashed straight into the barriers early in Q3 and never set a lap time in the final segment. That stripped him of any chance to challenge for pole and left him starting the race from P10 instead of from the front row fight that had been available before the crash.

Behind him, the order kept shifting. Lando Norris qualified fourth, Max Verstappen fifth, Isack Hadjar sixth, Oscar Piastri seventh, Liam Lawson eighth and Nico Hulkenberg ninth, while Arvid Lindblad went P11 and Gabriel Bortoleto followed just behind.

Barcelona Grid Shake-Up

Franco Colapinto outqualified his Alpine team mate Pierre Gasly, who took P14. Ollie Bearman also finished ahead of Carlos Sainz, with Sainz ending up P16, and Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon were eliminated in P17 and P18.

The session also cut early for Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso in Q1. For Russell, the clean lap meant front-row control of the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix start, while Leclerc’s mistake turned a possible pole challenge into damage limitation before the race begins.
