Josh Hokit Weigh In: Fighter Reaches 231lbs After Bizarre Scales Moment

Josh Hokit weigh in turned chaotic on Saturday afternoon when he showed up almost naked, swayed at the scales, and appeared to throw up on himself before making 231lbs. The bout still became official, and all seven fights on the UFC Freedom 250 card were made official at the same weigh-ins.

Josh Hokit at the scales

Hokit had to be urged to stand still as he climbed on to the scales, then weighed in at 231lbs for his fight with Derrick Lewis. He was one of 14 fighters on the card to make the contracted weight, but his entrance drew the most attention in the room.

He also told media members he was scared of Lewis and said, “So what, maybe I was drinking last night. Who wouldn’t be? I have a giant black man that wants to knock me out. He has the most knockouts in UFC history… What are you guys looking at?”

Derrick Lewis and the card

Lewis weighed in at 265lbs, setting up the heavyweight fight after Hokit's strange approach to the scale. Hokit is undefeated at 9-0 and has had three fights as a UFC fighter, which made the scene stand out even more at an official weigh-in.

The card itself carries extra weight because UFC Freedom 250 was commissioned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA and the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump. It is set for Sunday night on the grounds of the White House, in a makeshift 4,300-seater arena on the South Lawn.

Topuria, Gaethje, Pereira, Gane

Other featured fighters also hit their numbers. Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje both weighed in at 155lbs for their lightweight title fight, while Alex Pereira came in at 251lbs and Ciryl Gane at 248lbs for the interim UFC heavyweight title fight.

For Hokit, the only thing that changed on the record sheet was his official weight. For everyone else on the card, the weigh-in meant the White House show could move forward with every contracted bout intact.
