Colton Steed Chooses Tcu, Giving Horned Frogs 8th 2027 Pledge

tcu added another body to the trenches Sunday, landing 2027 offensive line prospect Colton Steed after his official visit to Fort Worth. The Round Rock, Texas lineman became the Horned Frogs’ eighth pledge in the 2027 class, giving the program another commitment at a position group it has targeted heavily.

Colton Steed In Fort Worth

Steed arrives at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds with an 80-inch wingspan, a frame that fits the profile of a tackle prospect. He took his official visit to Fort Worth before making the move to tcu, and the school now has its third offensive line prospect in the class.

That group already includes Ty Greene and Alexander Herrera. Steed became the 11th recruit overall in the 2027 class, and his pledge gave the Horned Frogs their second offensive line commitment in the last week.

Tcu Class Adds Size

The offer sheet behind the commitment included North Texas, UTSA, New Mexico, New Mexico State and more. That list shows the competition tcu beat out for another big lineman from Texas, and it adds another piece to a class that has been building across multiple spots on the roster.

Steed’s addition also fits into a broader run for the Horned Frogs, who have continued to build their 2027 class with a defensive back from Baton Rouge and a 2027 tackle from North Crowley. His commitment pushed the class to eight pledges, while the offensive line haul now stands at three prospects with Steed alongside Greene and Herrera.

For tcu, the immediate takeaway is the same one coaches chase every cycle: keep stacking size up front early, then keep moving before the rest of the class fills out. With Steed on board, the Horned Frogs have added another long frame and another recruiting win in a class that is already taking shape on both sides of the line.
