Byron Buxton Heads Weekly Winners as Brewers Pair Makes History
Jackson Chourio and Jacob Misiorowski gave the Brewers a first on Monday, sharing co-NL Players of the Week honors. The club became the first team since August 2024 to have teammates split the weekly award, and it was the first time Milwaukee had ever collected co-honors in franchise history.
Chourio’s six-game surge
Chourio earned his first NL Player of the Week Award after going 13-for-29 with five homers, 10 RBIs and eight runs scored across six Brewers games. He hit safely and drove in at least one run in every game during that stretch, a run that pushed his season line to.322/.370/.572 over 35 games.
The Brewers outfielder also added nine homers, 11 doubles, 26 RBIs, 27 runs and five steals to his season total. His 2.0 bWAR through 35 games shows how quickly he has turned the first month-plus he missed into a strong opening run.
Misiorowski’s Friday shutout
Misiorowski picked up his second career NL Player of the Week Award after a complete-game shutout against the Phillies on Friday night. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 15 on 95 pitches, and 58 of those pitches came in at 100-plus mph.
The right-hander faced the minimum after a fourth-inning double play and has piled up 3.9 bWAR in 87 innings across 14 starts. He now leads the majors in ERA, strikeouts, FIP and WHIP, with a 1.34 ERA, 131 strikeouts, a 1.69 FIP and a 0.736 WHIP.
Byron Buxton, Brayan Rocchio
The weekly awards also reached Minnesota and Cleveland, where Byron Buxton took home the AL Player of the Week Award and Brayan Rocchio won Play of the Week. For Milwaukee, the bigger line is simple: two teammates were recognized in the same week, and the franchise now has its first co-Players of the Week.
Misiorowski already had a Player of the Week honor from the final week of May, and Chourio’s first award arrived after his six-game burst matched the scale of the pitcher’s standout Friday. Together, they turned one weekly voting cycle into a franchise first that sits alongside the rest of the league’s honors rather than apart from them.
