Kent Drivers Face M20 Closures and Dartford Tunnel Works

Kent drivers using the m20 this week face overnight closures on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 3 at Addington Interchange and Junction 1 at Swanley Interchange. The shutdowns run from Monday, June 15 to Thursday, June 18, with a later Friday-night closure also set for the same stretch.

The works also reach the A20 near Dover and the Dartford Crossing, spreading delays across three of Kent's busiest routes during the same week. For drivers trying to cross the county late at night, the practical effect is a narrower set of route choices on consecutive evenings.

M20 Junction 3 to Junction 1

The M20 will close each night from Monday to Thursday between 10pm and 5.30am on the London-bound carriageway. On Friday night, June 19, the same stretch will shut from 11pm to 6am. The route affected runs between Junction 3 for Addington Interchange and Junction 1 at Swanley Interchange.

That leaves overnight traffic on one of Kent's busiest routes concentrated into short windows around the closures. Drivers heading toward London through that part of the county will need to avoid the affected section while the work is under way.

A20 Near Dover

The westbound A20 carriageway near Dover will shut each night from Monday to Thursday between Courtwood Interchange and Alkham Valley. Those closures are tied to bridge works and fall inside the same June 15 to June 21 maintenance period affecting the county's main routes.

For local traffic, the timing matters as much as the location. The repeated overnight pattern means the road will reopen each morning, then close again the following night for the next round of work.

Dartford Crossing Tunnels

Maintenance continues at the Dartford Crossing this week and will affect both the east and west tunnels at different times. The tunnel work adds another pinch point to the week for drivers moving between Kent and routes beyond the crossing.

With the M20, the A20 and the Dartford Crossing all in the same work window, drivers heading out late should plan around the overnight timetable before they leave. The closures run through Sunday, June 21, and the heaviest disruption is concentrated on the Monday-to-Thursday nights.
