RCMP seek dashcam after 18-year-old dies in Westside Road rollover — Castanet Kelowna

castanet kelowna reports an 18-year-old Vernon man died Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover on Westside Road near Lawrence Lane. RCMP say the driver was ejected after an older grey Dodge Ram drifted onto the soft shoulder and rolled off the roadway.

Two passengers, a 15-year-old youth and a 19-year-old woman from Vernon, were also ejected and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, and Westside Road was closed in both directions for several hours while crews worked the scene.

Westside Road and Lawrence Lane

RCMP were called around 3:45 p.m. to the area near the intersection of Westside Road and Lawrence Lane after reports of a single-vehicle rollover. The crash involved one vehicle, and investigators said the pickup was travelling northbound when it left the road.

Const. Wagner-Michaud of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP's Armstrong detachment asked anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact him. Police want video from Westside Road between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Monday, a window that could capture the vehicle before the rollover.

Vernon RCMP investigation

The investigation remains open as officers examine the scene and the sequence that led to the crash. The detail that both passengers were from Vernon narrows the immediate impact to one local family network and one local vehicle, rather than a wider collision scene.

Anyone who drove Westside Road during that half-hour window and has footage is being asked to call Const. Wagner-Michaud at 250-546-3028.
