Lauren Silverman Reflects on 2013 Pregnancy Fallout with Andrew Silverman

Lauren Silverman, 48, says finding out she was pregnant with Simon Cowell's child while still married to Andrew Silverman ended her marriage. She revisited the 2013 fallout in a new interview, calling it one of the hardest periods of her life.

“There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously,” she said on Happy Mum: The Podcast. She added, “It was one of the hardest times of my life, because — I don’t want to say regretful, because I don’t regret anything — do I wish it had happened a different way … of course I do.”

Silverman said the pregnancy news brought an immediate public firestorm. Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman made their relationship public in 2013 after the news broke, and Andrew Silverman filed for divorce shortly afterward.

Adam and Eric

“I wish I could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain,” she said of Andrew Silverman and their son Adam. She said her priority was to keep Adam “shielded and protected” while the story played out across magazines and news coverage.

“I was just so in fight or flight. I was just trying to get through it and just try to wake up every day and not, I don't know, fall apart cause it was intense,” she said. Silverman also said, “Everywhere I went … it was just the way that people would look at me. I was on the cover of every magazine and there were news stories about it … it was just awful.”

Twelve years later

Silverman said she has since done the work on herself and forgiven herself for her past mistakes. “I have done whatever I feel I need to do to make peace with the situation,” she said twelve years later, adding, “Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with” and “however we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be.”

For readers following the long-running celebrity fallout, the point now is less the old tabloid cycle than Silverman’s own accounting of it: she says she has moved from survival mode to acceptance, and she is framing the episode as something she has already processed rather than a scandal still unfolding.
