Cristiano Ronaldo Jr joins Portugal under-15 team in May 2025

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr joined Portugal's under-15 team in May 2025. His father kept the reaction short and public: “Proud of you, son!”

The 14-year-old’s selection sent the family story back into the football pipeline Ronaldo has tried to manage carefully. He has already said his son feels pressure because he is Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, and he has also said he will support him if he chooses another path.

Ronaldo’s May 2025 Story

Ronaldo posted the message in an Instagram Story after Cristiano Jr. joined Portugal’s under-15 youth national team for a tournament in Croatia. That puts the teenager on a national-team track that has continued through Portugal’s youth levels, while his father remains the sport’s most visible reference point.

Ronaldo’s public line on his son has not changed much. In 2024, he said, “(Cristiano Jr.) has pressure on him already being the son of Cristiano...Let him do his things” and added, “We can't make pressure on our sons because we are famous.”

Portugal and Riyadh

Cristiano Jr. was born on June 17, 2010, making him 14 in May 2025. Ronaldo also has twins Eva Maria and Mateo, daughter Alana Martina, and daughter Bella Esmeralda, and he has been raising the family in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with Georgina Rodríguez since early 2023.

That home base matters because Ronaldo’s children are being watched from two directions at once: as part of a family of four children in Saudi Arabia and as part of Portugal’s next youth group. Ronaldo has said, “I hope so, in the future, he can be a professional player,” but he has also drawn a line around the expectation.

Cristiano Jr’s Next Step

The real test now is whether this selection becomes a longer run with Portugal’s youth sides or just one more checkpoint in a career that is already under a bright family spotlight. For a 14-year-old, the opportunity is the point; for Ronaldo, the careful part is keeping it that way.
