Westside Road rollover kills Vernon driver, injures 2 passengers

An 18-year-old Vernon man died Monday afternoon after a single-vehicle rollover on Westside Road near Lawrence Lane. RCMP said the older grey Dodge Ram drifted onto the soft shoulder and rolled off the roadway around 3:45 p.m.

The driver was ejected and died at the scene. Two passengers, a 15-year-old youth and a 19-year-old woman from Vernon, were also ejected and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to the crash site after reports of the rollover. BC Emergency Health Services took both injured passengers to hospital, while investigators examined the scene and kept Westside Road closed in both directions for several hours.

RCMP dashcam request

The collision remains under investigation. RCMP asked anyone with information, including dashcam footage from Westside Road between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Monday, to contact Const. Wagner-Michaud of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP's Armstrong detachment at 250-546-3028.

For people who were on Westside Road during that window, the request is specific: footage from the stretch between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. could help investigators reconstruct how the grey Dodge Ram left the roadway and rolled.
